The Pirate Party of Canada has a rather short history. It was originally conceived in the Pirate Party International forums in 2006, however didn’t gain much momentum at the time.

It was re-created in June 2009 after the electoral success of the Swedish Pirate Party, and has been gaining strength ever since.
